Candle wax & fragrance calculator
How the numbers are worked out
The calculator starts from your container's water capacity (fill it with water and weigh it, or use the maker's listing). Wax is lighter than water, so the fill weight is capacity x fill level x a wax factor. 0.86 is the factor most suppliers quote for soy wax; check your wax maker's data sheet and change it if theirs differs.
Fragrance load is worked out the way most wax makers state it: as a percentage of the wax weight. At 8%, 1 lb (16 oz) of wax takes 1.28 oz of fragrance oil. Never go above the maximum load on your wax's data sheet.
The overage box adds extra for test pours, spills and the bit left in the pouring pitcher.
